Area Manager – East London
The TACT East London fostering service, based in South Woodford E18, is a well-established office covering a wide geographical area of East and North London, Hertfordshire, Essex, Thurrock and Suffolk. The current manager of ten years standing is retiring at the end of March and we are looking to identify a replacement.
Currently the service has 60 carer households but recruitment is good and we are expecting numbers to increase. We are looking for a registered manager who is both committed to, and able to, lead this growth supported by the TACT Business Development Unit.
Although the team is office based we have a home worker covering the Herts Area and another covering Thurrock, Clacton, Frinton–on-sea, Benfleet and Billericay Essex. The other four workers support carers based in London supported by a Children’s Resource Worker and experienced Administrative staff. We also have a number of independent Form F assessors that we call on to complete assessments of prospective foster carers.
Our Foster Carers come from a variety of Ethnic and cultural backgrounds. This includes single carer households and carers who continue to work full time.
We are looking for someone who is resilient, possesses lots of energy, has a good sense of humour, is enthusiastic, focused, flexible, will go that extra mile, with a strong sense of ownership, committed to the TACT values as well as the area one of nine within TACT that they will lead.
The key challenges going forward for the successful applicant will be to:
- Continue the expansion of fostering households and placements.
- Maintain the high standards of care for the children in placement.
- Develop foster carers skills and competencies particularly in relation to the challenging referrals that are currently coming through the duty system.
- Attract new carers in a competitive environment.
You will be supported both by an experienced team of operational registered managers, excellent support services and a senior management team dedicated to taking the organisation forward.
