We’re delighted that you’ve taken the first step to finding out more about fostering.

It takes a special kind of person to become a foster carer and the fact that one of our current foster carers thinks you have what it takes means a lot to us.

Can I Foster?

Our foster carers come from a wide range of backgrounds, cultures and ethnic groups. We believe the most important criteria for becoming a foster carer is your ability to listen and empathise and to provide a safe, stable and loving home for the children you care for.

To be able to start your fostering journey with TACT, you need to meet the following criteria:

  • You must be over 21 years old
  • You must have a spare bedroom
  • You must have the time to dedicate to fostering

What Next?

To find out more, please complete the simple enquiry form on this page. We’ll then email an information pack to you, and a friendly advisor from our enquiry team will call you to talk you through the next steps.

When we call you, we’ll explain some of the essential criteria for becoming a foster carer, explain the application process, and answer any questions you may have, such as the different types of foster care, and the allowances you’ll receive.

Our foster carers receive up to £450 per week, per child that they care for. To show our appreciation, you will also have access to a full range of other benefits  as a TACT foster carer.

You will receive 24/7 support throughout your fostering journey. You will also have access to specialist services such as educational and therapeutic support.

You will be joining a not-for-profit organisation that has over 25 years experience in supporting our foster carers. We are experts in what we do and that’s why 98% of our carers recommend us.

You will have a training and development programme designed specifically for you that will help you to develop your skills and experiences as a foster carer.
