Big congratulations to Joan Lawton, TACT long-time trustee, who received an OBE (Order of the British Empire) from the Prince of Wales in the Buckingham Palace on 23rd November 2017.

Joan has been recognised for her outstanding services to adoption in the Queen’s Birthday Honours in July earlier this year.

For ten years, since 2007 until autumn 2017, Joan was a committed TACT trustee and an independent member of the TACT Adoption and Permanence Panel. A qualified social worker, she has dedicated her life to children in care and adoption services.

Joan said: “I am absolutely delighted and excited to be awarded such an honour.”

TACT CEO Andy Elvin expressed his congratulations to the award holder: “TACT are thrilled that Joan Lawton has received this honour for her longstanding commitment to adoption. Joan’s expertise, determination, good sense and boundless enthusiasm has seen hundreds of children placed in excellent adoptive homes and ensured that adopters receive excellent support both pre and post adoption.”
