TACT CEO Criticises Education Secretary’s Call for Changes to Adoption System

TACT CEO Andy Elvin has labelled the Education Secretary’s plans to prioritise adoption over other types of care as “depressing and predictable”.

“There are many elements of the care system that need attention and funding; recruiting more foster carers, Staying Put, support for kinship carers and support for care experienced adults”.

The Education Secretary, Gavin Williamson, had called for an overhaul to the adoption system which he claimed discriminates against those who don’t “conform to a middle-class lifestyle”.
