Fostering in Wigan
There are many children in the area of Wigan that cannot be looked after by their own families – for a number of reasons. It could be because of conflict within the family, or the parents may have an illness that means that they can’t properly look after their children. Unfortunately, it could also be because they have experienced some form of neglect or even abuse. Therefore TACT are recruiting foster carers in Wigan to provide caring homes for these young people.
You don’t need any childcare experience or qualifications. In fact, to make a start on the foster carer application and assessment process you just need at least one spare bedroom, a caring and nurturing disposition, and lots of energy to provide a child with a loving home. If this is something you see yourself doing, you could join our Wigan Fostering team!
TACT North West carer Karen discusses below why she chose to foster with TACT and what she loves about being a foster carer.
Why foster in Wigan with TACT?
TACT is the UK’s largest dedicated fostering charity – enabling us to provide care for children on a national level. We reinvest any surplus income into providing more support and training for foster carers interested in fostering.
As one of the leading fostering agencies in Wigan, we provide our foster parents with training and support that is local to them – to enable them to change young people’s lives. Because we reinvest surplus income, we can provide additional support over and above what is required of a fostering charity, such as a dedicated education service and an online foster carer portal. We are even currently developing our own specialist health service.
We’re more than just a fostering agency – we go above and beyond to look after our foster carers and the children they provide care for. Our TACT Connect service ensures that when children leave the care system, they have TACT’s support for life.
This is why 96% of our carers would recommend us to others thinking of fostering.
“Since day one, we have been welcomed and made to feel part of a family, the support we receive from the team is amazing”
