Self Employed Social Worker Roles

TACT is the UK’s largest dedicated fostering charity. Our core work involves providing high quality and well-supported fostering families for children and young people in the care of local authorities. Working in partnership with local authorities across England, Wales and Scotland, we are dedicated to providing creative, effective and outcome-focussed services. We also campaign on behalf of children and young people in care and carers and are a leading voice in the sector.

What is a Self Employed Social Worker?

Self Employed Social Workers support our social work teams in the assessment of potential foster carers on a self-employed basis.  This suits many social workers as it can help support a positive work-life balance by allowing you to choose the amount of work and hours undertaken. TACT are seeking enthusiastic and skilled social workers across England, Scotland and Wales to come join us on a self employed basis to undertake fostering assessments.

If you’re an experienced social worker and have experience in undertaking Form F assessments of potential foster carers, then we would love to hear from you.

At present we are particularly keen to hear from applicants in the North West area – specifically Bolton, Bury, Cheshire, Knowsley, Liverpool, Manchester, Oldham, Rochdale, Salford, St Helens, Stockport, Tameside and Warrington.

“TACT provide regular supervision; the specialist Social Worker that supports me with my independent work is excellent, very personable, experienced and willing to provide advice and support.”

“Working with different Foster Carers and assessing carers to be foster carers has been a highlight in my work with TACT.  The Foster Carers the charity have are experienced, are welcoming, willing to learn and develop.”

“The flexibility of being a sessional Social Worker fits in around my personal life which enables me to have a good work-life balance.”

– Melanie, Self Employed Social Worker with TACT
