Shannon was fifteen when she was fostered by her former carers Marian and Carl, helping her out of “the darkest of places” through their love and support. Shannon and Marian spoke to ITV News about their strong bond, describing her carers as her rocks who have helped her to succeed in life. Shannon also discussed what it was like leaving care at the age of 18 and having the support she had received throughout her life be suddenly taken away.
