Office-based - £29,700 + £1,500 Out of Hours Allowance once participating in the rota

Building upon our reputation for delivering excellent outcomes for children, we recently opened an office in the Gateshead area.

We are looking for a dynamic, enthusiastic, highly-motivated individual with experience of recruiting, assessing and supervising foster carers. The social worker, alongside the Area Manager, will be the face of TACT for prospective carers and local authorities in the North East. They will need to share and promote our unshakeable commitment to the cause of looked after children and young people, and to the work we do to resolve trauma, build confidence, and improve their long-term life chances. This is an exciting opportunity to be part the expansion of a national non-profit making organisation at a local level. We are interested in individuals for whom quality of service is paramount and in those who share our commitment to working in partnership with children and their foster carers in the development of the agency.

If you would like to be part of this exciting expansion and have the relevant skills and experience in fostering, we would like to hear from you. You will be expected, with guidance from the Area Manager, to develop services throughout the North East but particularly in the areas of Newcastle, Durham, Sunderland, Gateshead and the Tees Valley. Use of a car is essential to the role.

Initially, the post will focus on the recruitment of foster carers and working in partnership with local authorities. It will also include the assessment and supervision of foster carers, along with the matching of children’s needs to their assessed skills, qualities and abilities. 

Applicants will be required to have:

  • Recent experience in childcare, preferably family placement work
  • Up-to-date knowledge of all relevant legislation
  • DipSW, CSS or CQSW qualified and registered with the HCPC.
  • An enhanced disclosure is also required and is requested for you by TACT.
