Young People
Welcome to the young people's section of our website.
The Adolescent and Children's Trust (TACT) provides foster families or adopters for children and young people who are not able to live with their own families. Foster carers and adopters are special people who have been carefully chosen and deeply care for vulnerable children and young people. They will do all the things that other parents do; such as setting rules, helping you go to school, making sure you eat the right food and paying pocket money!
Each foster/adoptive family is different; there may be one or two carers/adoptive parents; they may be old or young; they may have pets or not; they may have their own children or may have other foster/adopted children. Before you move in, your social worker will normally have talked to you about what kind of family you want and need to make sure the family is right for you.
What is really important is that you know that
If you feel that these rights are not being met, go to our dedicated section: "Not happy, what do I do?".
This website has a number of pages that we hope will be useful to you. You should also have been given one of our Children and Young People’s Guide and a range of other information when you first came to live with your TACT foster carer or with your adoptive parents. If for any reason you did not get one, tell your foster carer or your adoptive parents and email enquiries@tactcare.org.uk or phone 020 8695 8115 and we’ll make sure you get your copy.
