Who can become a foster carer?
If you have space in your home, a caring personality and the time and energy to devote to a child then you could become a foster carer. We accept applications from any ethnicity, single people or couples, those with children of their own or those without. We are interested in what you can bring to a child's life.
Many of the children and young people we work with have come from difficult background and so can be challenging or have multiple needs. TACT will give you 24 hour support, 7 days a week, but you need to be prepared to take the difficult times with the good.
Many of our young people have told us that their TACT placement has changed their life - it is impossible to underestimate the value of a stable, loving home to young people who may have moved home many times in their young lives.
| “The importance of fostering is…wow…it’s everything. Any child that has a background as challenging as some of the kids we work with, the importance of having a stable base, support and people just caring about these kids – a lot of them have never had that. And it’ll break your heart” Matt, Foster Carer, TACT East Midlands |
