Who can adopt?
Who we look for
At TACT Adoption, we want to hear from families from all sorts of different backgrounds. You can be married or single, divorced or living with a partner. You can be gay or straight, unemployed or disabled.
What you need to offer
What’s important to us is that what you have to offer matches the needs of the children we want to place for adoption. In our experience, children need adoptive families who recognise the importance of being patient, understanding and can offer reassurance, commitment and love to the children in their care. If you are unsure that you meet our criteria, please come and talk to us about your individual circumstances.
Requirements
- (an) additional bedroom(s) in your home*,
- experience of interacting with children and young people**,
- if in a relationship, you will need to show that it is stable and settled***,
- a caring personality,
- and the time and energy to devote to a child.

Notes (*)
* Please note that your "additional" bedroom(s) need to be separate from your own. This is a mandatory requirement.
** This doesn't mean that you need to have worked with children or be a parent.
*** TACT's guidance is that relationships should be for three or more years.
