What support can you expect?

Our staff are all highly experienced and dedicated - some of them have been foster carers themselves. As a TACT foster carer you will receive round-the-clock support from a Supervising Social Worker. They will be your first point of contact if you have problems, they'll call and visit you regularly.

You will receive training during your assessment  and then, following approval, you can take advantage of TACT courses covering a wide range of topics from Child Development to Managing Challenging Behaviour, Disability Awareness to Valuing Diversity. After a year you can study for an NVQ.

Each local TACT office runs support groups for foster carers where you can meet other carers and share your experiences.

The benefit of TACT being a charity is that you will also see opportunities to get involved in national activities. In 2006 we ran a National Carer's Awards in London, early in 2007 two of our foster carers met the Prime Minister and foster carers can also get involved with our national programme of young people's involvement.
