Remembering TACT in your Will
Remembering TACT with a gift in your Will will only take a few minutes but it's a gift that will leave a lasting impact.
Your gift no matter how large or small really could give a young person a chance in life.
- Did you know that there are 60,900 children and young people in the care system in the UK*
- Did you know that over 60 percent of those children and young people are there because they have suffered abuse and neglect*
- Did you know that only 1 percent of young people in the care system go onto university*
As a children's charity, everything TACT does is for the benefit of children and young people. Providing a secure and loving foster or adoptive family is essential. However, we also support young people in our foster care through the transition from the care system into independence as well as offering adopted children important post adoption support.
Our results speak for themselves: (Click here to read TACT's Outcome Report)
- 82 percent of our young people who have left school attend college. This compares with 80 percent for all young people and is above the national average for all looked after children (66 percent)
- Only 2 percent of TACT children and young people have been convicted of an offence or cautioned in the last 12 months compared to 9 percent nationally.
- Only 8 perecent aged between 16 and 18 are unemployed (better than the national averages for ALL children)
The children who come into our care are likely to have experienced abuse, neglect and traumas at a very young age. These understandably can leave lasting scars. The foster or adoptive family a child is placed with will often need a high level of expert support to help them through the many problems.
TACT continuously strives to give the children in our care the opportunity to become happy and contented young adults who are able to contribute to society.
Your gift will allow TACT to continue providing extra and vital services we think crucial but for which we usually receive no funding, long into the future to ensure more young people can have the right start in life:
- Emotional support
- Therapy
- Skills for Life Courses
- Constant and ongoing access to social workers
- A range of post care and post adoption services
In nearly 20 years TACT has placed over 2,300 children and young people in loving, stable foster and adoptive family environments, giving them the best possible chance. With your support in another 20 years we can help many more vulnerable children and young people.

"It's difficult leaving the care system because you don't know how to be independent. You don't know how to pay tax, electricity, gas, to care for the house, to cook and everything else that goes with being independent. I think it's really difficult leaving foster care..."

"TACT helped me by explaining how it is to be independent - washing my own stuff, cooking, cleaning the house, communicating with other people. Life skills... that's what they are. There is a life skills course in TACT called 'Skills for Life'. It is very good for young people who are in care"
TACT care leaver (20 yrs)
