Our outcomes

TACT believes it is vitally important to record the achievements and outcomes of the young people we look after. This enables us to improve our services and ensure that they achieve to the best of their abilities. We publish our results every two years in our “Outcomes” report. Here are a few statistics on TACT children and young people reflecting UK governments' targets:

  • Health
Only 1% of TACT children and young people use drugs compared to 5% nationally (national statistic for all looked after children).

Only 3% are known to use alcohol.

  • Safety
97% of risk assessments were undertaken this year, showing a 20% increase since 2005.

  • Achievements
98% of TACT children and young people go to school regularly.

14 young people cared by TACT took their GCSEs exams (20 were eligible in 2009). Four out of those 14 young people (28%) achieved five or more GCSEs passes at A-C grades which is above the national average for all looked after
    children (14%).

  • Offending
Only 2% of TACT children and young people have been convicted of an offence or cautioned in the last 12 months compared to 9% nationally (national statistic set for all looked after children) and to 4.1% for all children.

  • Economic well-being
82% of our young people who have left school attend college. This compares with 80% for all young people and a national average of 66% for all looked after children.

Only 8% aged between 16 and 18 are unemployed. (Better than the national average for all children)
