Not happy, what do I do?

All children and young people who are looked after by TACT foster carers and adoptive parents should be cared for properly; for example no TACT carer is allowed to use any kind of physical punishment. You may feel that you are unhappy about the way you are being looked after or it may be that your social worker isn’t visiting you enough or decisions that were made at your review have not been carried out.

In these circumstances and in any other when you feel you’re not happy, you can complain. You will not get into any trouble and you will be listened to. TACT has very clear ways on how to deal with young people who want to complain and will provide an independent person to look into the situation and provide you with your own person, called an advocate, to speak for you if this is needed.

You should have received information on how to make a complaint with your Children’s guide but if for any reason you haven’t got this, email enquiries@tactcare.org.uk or phone 020 8695 8115 and we’ll make sure you get your copy. You may decide that you want to speak to someone urgently or in confidence; go to our "Resources" page which will give you some helpline numbers you can ring.

We are always interested in hearing about things that are going well or that you enjoy so you can always tell us about your good news as well as any problems, email your story to Karis, k.rae@tactcare.org.uk!
