London adoption team

Like many agencies, TACT is committed to providing permanent families for children who need them. Our charitable status means that we are a not-for-profit agency who are committed to provide good outcomes for children. That's why we extended our services to include adoption in 2004.

As a registered adoption agency, we are always looking for families who can offer a permanent home to a child. We know from experience that many of the children we place are not able to live with their birth relatives for all sorts of reasons and need a loving family who can parent them until they reach adulthood. You do not need to be wealthy, nor do you have to own your own home. You should be able to offer a child love, understanding, reassurance, patience, commitment and have a spare bedroom.

At present we are only able to offer an adoption service in the Greater London area. Occasionally, we might be able to place children with profound needs in other parts of the UK. We want to hear from you, if you live within the M25 area. We understand that families come in all different forms. We are interested in hearing from you if you are single, part of a couple, from a variety of religious or ethnic groups, have children already or not. We are particularly keen to hear from black and minority ethnic families and from those who can take on sibling groups.

Our London based team has three permanent social workers who prepare, assess and support people who want to adopt. We have a post adoption worker who offers help and support to families who have already adopted and adults affected by adoption. We have strong management support as we continue to improve our adoption and permanency services.

We work closely with other agencies to provide our families with up-to-date information about adoption. We want to work with you to put together a realistic package of support that meet the needs of your family. We hold a number of regular events and we produce a newsletter to help you stay in touch with TACT and to give you the opportunity to meet other families affected by adoption. We provide ongoing pre and post adoption advice and support as well as training to help you manage the challenges you may face.

We're running adoption information mornings throughout the year, the next one's on Saturday 12 November, so have a look and why not call us to book a place.
