What is Link Care?
The Family Link scheme is a service whereby specialist carers are assessed and approved to offer short break care to children with disabilities and complex needs.
Most children who access the scheme live at home with their birth families, with these breaks designed to offer them the opportunity to develop new relationships in a safe and stable environment, whilst providing parents and carers a break from caring.
The objective of the scheme is to recruit people, who are able to offer support and commitment to the young people and their families on a regular basis. This could mean looking after a child for a day, overnight, over a weekend or short term holiday periods.
Once approved, Link Carers are carefully matched to children whose needs can be met by their skills and experience.
Retained Link Care
We also offer a Retained Link Care scheme. As part of this scheme carers are assessed and approved to offer short break placements for specific children with significant and complex needs on a regular basis.
Retained Link Carers will be matched to specific children who’s needs can be met by their skills and their placements.
